I am, Dr Sarah Ralph. As a therapist, I aim to develop a strong, respectful, non-judgmental, and honest relationship with clients. I consider the client their own expert, and my role is to teach, facilitate, and support the client’s journey as they manage and overcome difficulties and challenges in their life.
Research shows that the relationship between therapist and client is central to the process of change; I aim to provide a safe, empathic space for the client to feel relaxed and contained, to explore and reflect upon their experiences.
I am a counselling psychologist with 14 years experience in hospital settings and community based contexts. I have experience in working with Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders and Body Image issues, Personality Disorders, Gender Identity, Suicidality and Self-Harming Behaviours, Stress Management, Chronic Pain, Family and Relationship issues, Life Transition, Loss, Bereavement and Grief, Self-worth, and Life purpose (not an exhaustive list).
I have experience in working with a multi-disciplinary team in order to provide holistic care for the mind, body and soul.
My clients are as diverse as the world we live in, and I endeavor to be culturally, spiritually, socio-economically, and politically aware within my practice. I have completed diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility training at the University of California, Berkley to assist me in providing therapeutic services for a global client base. I have traveled extensively and have lived in various countries throughout the world. It is my pleasure to be able to serve people in awareness of their unique individual needs.
The specific nature of therapy means that it can be time-limited, or may be open-ended, it may be goal orientated, or more flexibly experienced. Most importantly your therapeutic experience will be determined by what you want, and how therapy can help you to achieve that.
For thousands of years, the North Star has been a guiding light for navigators and travelers, even in the darkest of nights, letting them sail the seas and cross the wilderness without getting lost. Formally known as Polaris, our North Star has served as a beacon of hope and inspiration for centuries.
Ancient navigators observed that all the stars in the sky seem to circle around the North Star, due to this, the North Star became associated with our own unique life’s purpose, our heart’s true desires, our own values and creativity to follow in our own life. Just like the literal North Star, we can find our passion, purpose and direction in life. As we look within ourselves, we can discover and develop the gifts that we already have, letting us achieve our full potential.
A central feature of therapeutic engagement is discovering the self awareness, trust and intuition that is innately within each of us . It has been my honor to guide so many clients globally to the awareness of their own unique value and exciting life purpose.
Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens.
Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.
There is a wide body of research that supports mindfulness strategies in reducing symptoms pertaining to anxiety, depression, stress and past trauma. I have extensive mindfulness training and experience in utilising meditation and mindfulness skills for therapeutic advantage.
My extensive experience enables me to offer effective individualized, psychological care. I treat a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples.
My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan.
I promise to be there for you every step of your journey. Our goal will be to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
All sessions are 50 minutes in length and completed online via a video calling facility such as zoom, skype or facetime. This can accommodate any challenges related to travel, availability, personal commitments and global time zones.
Fee's are dependent upon the client's location and financial circumstances.
Your first session will involve us getting to know each other. I will ask you some questions to help you to explain why you have come for therapy and find out what you would like to gain from it. I will take great care to help you to feel comfortable and at ease in your session.
Each person has an individualized formulation of their challenges and treatment pathway forward. This can include a risk assessment where necessary and will identify which psychological therapeutic treatment approaches are most appropriate for your unique needs.
